Re-visiting Card Techniques – Faux Linen

Gidday!

It’s been ten years since Cardmaking, Stamping and Papercraft magazine released a special issue featuring a few of my Classroom articles. I thought re-visiting these techniques would be a great idea and so did you apparently!

So the first one is – Faux Linen. This is an easy technique and will work with most styles.

Materials needed:

  • Glossy white cardstock
  • Course sandpaper
  • Range of ink pads: I used Distress Oxide Gathered Twigs, Antique Linen, Fossilized Amber and Worn Lipstick
  • Stamps of your choice, I used Taylored Expressions Best Buds stamp and stencil set.
  • tissues
  • heat gun

Here’s a YouTube video I made using other products, enjoy! Be gentle as this is my first YouTube video I’m sharing! I’m sure I’ll get better at it any tips or advice will be appreciated!

Have a try, I’m sure you’ll love the technique.

Happy creating

Rainbows and Clouds

Hi everyone,

I’m sharing a very different style of card today, not one Copic marker was involved in this creation! I used a selection of Darkroom Door stamps and their new Mini Stencil Sets – Cloud and Rainbow. I think the style would be called funky? Well I say funky, what would you say?

It’s always good to give another style of card a go, broadens your creativity!

Darkroom Door also sells these fantastic Ranger Detail Blending Tools that fit perfectly inside the rainbow cut-out sections, they make life so much easier! Check out my Miss Jane’s Classroom Facebook Page or Instagram to watch a video on how I created the rainbow.

No prob – Llama

Oh, I’m very excited to share the news that I’m the Guest Designer over at Newton’s Nook Designs for the month of March!! What an absolute honour it is!! I’m so delighted that I get to play with their stamps, they’re such awesome designs and a super friendly company!

My first card to share is using Newton’s Nook Designs Loveable Llamas stamp set. I love this set, it has two cute Llamas to choose from and then you have several decorative blankets to add to them, or there is a set of suitcases, or presents, or pot of cactuses you can use as well or instead, OH so many options, be still my heart! The sentiments are just as adorable too! I guarantee you’ll want this set!! Click HERE to check it out!

Here’s a sneak peek of the card. You’re going to have to head on over to Newton’s Nook Designs blog to see the whole card! he he. So many wonderful cards on that blog to check out and so much to inspire you!

I created the funky curved hills on vellum using a white Prismascolor pencil, I also shaded them a little using the same pencil.
I coloured the back of the vellum hills using a variety of green shades in the Distress Ink pads collection! I love how they turned out, it mutes the colours slightly but that’s what I like!

Well, I can’t wait to share what I create next! So much fun using Newton’s Nook Designs stamps!! Such a great variety! Stay tuned every Tuesday in March! Mark it in your calendars my friends LOL

Thanks so much for checking out my blog post, now go and create!

Happy stamping
